The connection site was corroded from weeping water that is acidic in our area no neutralizer for sometime by original ownerhere when I saw this on HD, I decided to go with the sharkbite kit.
Water off, ran the cutter around the old penetration on both sides. Cleaned the pipe with sandpaper to remove any residual corrosion, pushed on the sharkbite coupler. Then, pushed on the shutoff that comes in the kit, pushed the PEX onto the shutoff. Used a pair of pliers for a little more torque than what I could get with my fingers.

I'd been needing a new line for the refrigerator ice maker, but was not anxious to deal with the usual soldering. Cutting into existing piping, I never seem to get all the water out of the lines and heating the joint without starting a fire is a challenge.
This kit does the job without solder - just cut 2" out of the cold water line, clean up the ends, and slip things together. No fuss, no muss, no leaks!

No saddle valve to fail, no copper tubing bend and plant of peace of mind with no leaks after a year. Having the PEX makes pulling the fridge out simple, you never had to worry about bending the line like you do with copper.
You could switch out the angle stop that comes with the Ice Maker Kit with part LF and connect your braided stainless steel supply line directly to it and the male threads on your refrigerator. If it starts to leak somewhere I'd feel better replacing the whole line, and so far haven't found the disconnect clips for redos as handy as I thought they'd be. I am bringing my pex line from the ceiling. It is also necessary to install an inline valve to permit turning off the ice maker connection as shown.
Rated 4 out of 5 by MrZ2 from Nice Set, simple to install. Kit comes with everything you need. Snakebite fittings are very easy to work with and much simpler then soldering. One change I would recommend is a 90 fitting coming out of the valve or position the valve such that it points down instead of straight out of the wall this will help reduce the stress on the hose and fittings when the fridge is rolled back against the wall.

I was really hesitant to try solder-less connections, but after seeing other reviews from around the web and actually trying it out for my self, I am totally sold on it.
The installation was Ice Maker Hook Up To Pex easy. It only took me about 30 minutes total time. As you can see in my picture, I had to add an extra elbow connection to get this to work. The supply line they provide is not very long.

Hello, We do not recommend using flexible copper tubing with SharkBite push-to-connect fittings. The piece that screws on to the back of the fridge is leaking between the part where the pex goes in and the part that screws on the fridge.
